Run the built-in system restore function. For this version of Windows XP to bring up the main system menu by pressing the "start" button and click "All programs." Open the link to "Standard" and select "system Restore". An alternative way of starting the desired function can be a choice of item "help and support" in the main menu "start" and the opening section of "job Selection". Enter the command "undo changes with system restore". Another method - go back to main menu "start" and go to "Run". Type %SystemRoot%system32 estore strui.exe in the Open box, and confirm the utility starts by pressing the OK button.

Create a restore point manually. To do this, select the option "Create a restore point" and confirm the selected action by pressing the "Next" button. Type the desired the deciding point in the line "description of the restore point" and save the changes by pressing the "Create"button.

Hit the Home button to return to the main utility window and select the option "Restore an earlier state of the computer." Confirm your selection by pressing the "Next" button and select the desired date or name for the restore point in the list the following dialog box. Confirm the selected action by pressing the "Next" button in the query window of the system and complete the restore process. An indicator of this will be to reboot the system in automatic mode.

Please note that the utility provides also the possibility to undo the restoration if the result is not satisfactory, select another control point. Note that programs installed after the restore point may be lost, so it is recommended to pre-generate copies of the necessary applications on removable media.
