Instruction
1
Consider the composition of the portrait. Your choice does not have to be formal. Try to answer the question of how you want to portray the person and why. You have different options: to draw the face, Breasts, waist and full body. The decision may come intuitively. It is important to meet your creative intention and organics the person.
2
You can draw a person's age to show wisdom and experience, which are reflected in his face. But the old woman wouldn't want to see their aging, so will ask you not to paint it too "close". Need to find the line between human desire, which you draw, and your creative intent.
3
Imagine the silhouette. What is the place in your picture will be the background, you will not lose any expressiveness of the depicted figures? It is important to observe the proportions. Let every decision you take will be deliberate and measured. If you are not accustomed to think much upon the work and prefer to go by an intuitive act, but always give yourself time to feel what you're doing. Do not allow any automatic and random acts.
4
Determine the color scheme. Color is one of the main means of expression in painting. Especially in watercolor, where the color is subtle and very time consuming. Watercolor — the material is transparent, fragile, delicate, and therefore require crystal accuracy. The color you choose will reflect the image you have chosen no less than your own. Think about what you want to portray a more — myself or the person I paint. If you are doing a portrait for someone you draw on yourself it is better to forget. Closely look at your model. What creates feelings in you that man? Bright, saturated, vivid, warm, or cool colors — choose paint based on your view about the inner world of the model.
5
Do not start to draw the whole figure at once. Better to do a little sketch before starting the main work. In a small format you will be able to estimate the proportions match colors to create an image.
Note
Be prepared for the fact that all of your chosen paint when dry will fade a few shades.
