How to make a hard drive hidden

Sometimes you want to hide one or more hard disk partitions from prying eyes. Of course, you can create multiple accounts for each and assign passwords, but there is an easier way — hiding partitions using the system.

The described method is used to completely hide the partitions on your hard disk, i.e. you don't see in Windows Explorer, any file Manager, as well as when working from the command line and at system boot in safe mode.

As a basic tool for further work will use the registry editor Regedit. Its start can be performed using the applet Run. To do this, press the key combination Win + R. Type regedit and click OK or click the Enter key.

In the opened registry editor window, you must open the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. Then open the following folders Software, Microsoft, Windows, CurrentVersion, Policies, Explorer. Open the context menu of folders in Explorer, just right-click on it. From the menu, choose "Create" then click on "DWORD value".

The newly created parameter must be changed from "New value #1" NoDrives. To open the properties for the new parameter, double click with the left mouse button. In the dialog that appears, navigate to "System of calculation" and check the box to "Decimal".

Look again and note the drive letter of the partition you want to hide, because each section has its own individual value. If disk "A" corresponds to the unit disk "B" corresponds to two, drive "C" corresponds to four, etc. the Principle is this — each value twice the previous one. Enter the value your drive and click "OK".

To hide multiple partitions, enter a number equal to their sum. For example, 2+8+32=42, this value must be paid. To cancel, hide disks, you need to delete the created value in the registry.
