The preparatory phase

Before conducting the decontamination procedure, the instruments must first be cleaned. All metal or plastic tools should be well washed with warm water and detergent – this will remove visible dirt. Abrasive materials and wood sticks should be cleaned and polished.

Disinfection in the oven

This type of disinfection is suitable only for metal instruments without any fusible surfaces. In professional nail salons and beauty salons are used for this oven, which is heated to 300-500 degrees, but the procedure can be done at home using a conventional oven. Of course, in this case, the temperature effects on the instruments will be lower, however, to kill bacteria on the surface.

So, heat oven to maximum temperature and place the instruments for disinfection. Lay them on the baking sheet so that they do not overlap with each other and not in contact among themselves. The disinfection time in the oven for 15-20 minutes, to kill bacteria that is enough. To comply with the conditions of sterility of the instruments from the pan remove the special metal tongs and immediately place in a sterile plastic bag with hermetic closure.

Disinfection in boiling water

The old method of sterilization, which was used by doctors before the advent of modern disinfectants and equipment – boiling. Under the action of high temperature in the boiling water for all harmful microorganisms are killed. The disadvantage of this method is its relative impracticality – not every metal tool is able to live long enough to maintain their functional properties, if it is to be boiled in water. Scissors become dull and worse are closed, the tongs are bent, and smaller devices and even can become unusable. However, if you need to disinfect the instrument, but the oven is not at hand, the boiling – something that will rescue you.

The technique is quite simple. The key in boiling water are placed pre-prepared tools and kept for 15 minutes. Sterile metal forceps should be removed and put to dry on sterile paper towels, then place in a sealed plastic bag with a zipper flap.
