Instruction
1
New scythe's blade before weaning sharpen from the underside. For this, use a file with a small notch or bench grinder with low speed, so as not to burn through the metal. Sharpening of the blade is the width to 20 mm. Sharpen the blade to the appearance of a thin Burr on the blade, which then remove using abrasive stone. You can sharpen the blade to half thickness, and then to recapture.
2
Prepare the tool for pressing the plaits: the anvil (the grandmother) and the hammer with the narrow head. Countertops grandmother and hammer should be smooth, otherwise they must be sanded.
3
Grandmother type in a block of hard wood. Press the sheet of the spit to the working surface of the headstock. You may need a special stand that allows you to move the upper end of cocovia up or down. Stand not needed, unless you first remove the knife from cocovia.
4
Hit the braid on the front (upper) side of leaf width to 2.5 mm. Padding, start from the heel and keep a water-dampened sock jackhammer. With the padding impact site cleared, and the blade appears bright bar that indicates the progress of weaning braids.
5
Strike parallel to the blade leaf by 1 mm on each shot. Do not try to strike, hammer, lift a few inches. It is unacceptable to strike obliquely, or across several consecutive times at the same place of the leaf – blade at the same time can stretch and warp, which will make the scythe unfit for work.
6
For a more thorough pulling blade repel the scythe twice. The cutting edge of the spit after the correct interval will have a barely visible groove and to resist the pressure of the nail, slightly curving and then returning to his place. In this case, braid batted well and can be used in the work.
