First, you must determine the thickness of the strings. Thin strings are suitable for beginners, they are easier to pinch, but you will not be able to achieve a loud and crisp sound. Also one of the drawbacks of thin strings is that due to the low tension they may rattle. To get strong and clear sound buy thicker strings. But remember that for a quality game on such strings you have to train the fingers of your left hand.

Typically, the thickness of the first strings in different sets in the range of from 0.008” to 0.013”. Set number shows the thickness of the first string.

In addition, you need to determine the type of winding (spun) strings. The most common type of winding strings for acoustic guitar – copper. Sometimes the winding of the strings covered with silver, but this does not affect the sound, and affects only the aesthetic qualities of the stringscovered with silver, do not leave dark marks on the fingers, look great and do not fade with time. Strings with a coil of brass or phosphor bronze is more durable and differ in sound from the copper. Form winding is of two types:
• A circular coil has a bright, ringing sound, especially during the first hours.
• Flat winding is a matte, muted sound.

The first two strings are always made without winding, and three bass – always twine. Various sets of the third string can be obvisly without it. Entwined with the third string has a more beautiful sound, but at the same time it is less durable and often she has to change the whole kit.
