Disable automatic updates the standard Windows Media Player application. To do this, access the main system menu by pressing the "start" button, and navigate to the Run dialog. Adobe Reader does not disable automatic updates in the settings menu, so in order to get rid of frequent updates will need to perform this procedure manually.
