64-bit computing promises the user with better performance and reliability of firewall, and overall system stability. In contrast, 32-bit systems offer a wide range of software. This is especially noticeable in the Microsoft Windows operating system. However, for the x64 OS will not be suitable for any processor, but only one whose architecture is able to perform 64-bit operations.

To know the bit depth of the operating system, in Windows XP click "start" - "Run". In Windows Vista or in Windows 7 go to "start", select "Programs" - "Accessories" and click on the shortcut to Run.
A window will open to launch applications. Enter “dxdiag” (without the quotes) and press “OK”. This programme is a diagnostic tool DxDiag. If you run it for the first time, you will need to wait about a minute and confirm it first run.
In the General tab of "System" in the "Operating system" you will see the bit after the full name of the OS, such as Windows XP Home Edition 32 bit or Windows 7 Home premium 64-bit. The discharge is then equal to the value of the word bits.
