Measuring and recording basal (rectal) temperature. Temperature is measured in the morning at the same time in the rectum. In the beginning of the cycle the temperature is about 36.9 degrees. Before ovulation it falls by 0.4-0.6 degrees. In the second half of the cycle, it increased by about 0.5 degrees. Ovulation occurs when temperatures drop and before her promotion. To accurately calculate the time of ovulation by this method, it is necessary to record the temperature at least a few months, to conduct individual schedule.
Special ovulation tests. They determine the level hormone (LH) in urine. They are used for a few days before the estimated start of ovulation. Test shows ovulation, which will occur in the period approximately 24-48 hours.
The method of dynamic ultrasound. The doctor for an ultrasound can determine when and how the formation of the follicle in the ovary and the release of an egg. You need to pass 2 to 4 treatments. If the cycle is regular, doing ultrasound for 15-18 days before the new cycle. If menstrual cycle is irregular from 10 day cycle. This method allows to know the time of ovulation to within a few hours.
Cervical method. This method consists in the observation of the mucus in the cervix, since the last day of menstruation. During ovulation it becomes very viscous and transparent, like egg white. In other days, the mucus is creamy. Observations are carried out over several months, in the morning. The consistency of the mucus is tested with the help of toilet paper or manually.
Calendar method. Suitable for women with a stable menstrual cycle. For this method, you track your cycle for at least six months and record these dates in the calendar. You can roughly determine when you ovulate – this will be the fourteenth to sixteenth days of the menstrual cycle. This method is not very reliable. Ovulation can be displaced or not occur.
