Instruction
1
Normal levels of ALT are higher than adults – up to 50 u/l and in men is slightly higher (up to 45 u/l) than in women (up to 31 u/l). Basically ALT is contained in the cells of the liver, pancreas, heart, kidneys and muscles. Accordingly, increased levels of ALT in the blood suggests the disease or damage to these organs.
2
To know how to reduce ALT, you need to understand why it increases. The main reasons for the increase in ALT include various liver diseases (hepatitis of various etiologies, cirrhosis or liver cancer, a steatosis – a disease in which normal cells are replaced by adipose tissue. It is necessary to clarify the symptoms and to conduct biochemical analysis of blood to put the correct diagnosis. In hepatitis, pain in the right hypochondrium, nausea, diarrhea or constipation may develop jaundice, increased level of bilirubin in the blood. The higher ALT in hepatitis, the generally stronger the liver.
3
Myocardial infarction collapse and die of cardiac muscle tissue (myocardium), the enzyme ALT from damaged cells into the bloodstream. Symptoms of a heart attack – a sharp prolonged pain in the heart that covers the whole left side of body, dizziness, weakness, shortness of breath.
4
Other diseases of the heart, in which the destroyed myocardial cells, also lead to an increase in the level of ALT – myocarditis, aneurysm, and other. Patients to suffer from shortness of breath, tachycardia, decreased arterial pressure.
5
The destruction of the cells of the muscles of the body for injuries and severe burns also increase ALT.
6
Acute pancreatitis is destroyed cells of the pancreas, and the enzyme ALT into the bloodstream, and this is reflected in the biochemical analysis. Other symptoms of this disease – pain around the umbilical region, diarrhea, nausea, bloating.
7
The level of ALT may be elevated in athletes under intense training.
8
Pregnant women in early pregnancy also may increase ALT.
9
Thus, it makes no sense to ask the question "how to reduce ALT". Increase of ALT is just a consequence of a disease or excessive stress. We must seek the cause and eliminate it.
Note
If the biochemical analysis of blood ALT (ALT) showed increased ALT activity 50 times or more, it mainly may be due to acute disorders of the hepatic perfusion, acute necrosis of liver cells caused by exotoxins, including acetaminophen and carbon tetrachloride, viral hepatitis, infectious mononucleosis.
Useful advice
In diseases leading to damage to cells rich ALT (hepatocytes, kidney cells, myocardium, etc.), alanine transaminase released into the blood – increased levels of ALT. According to the results of tests for ALT levels in conjunction with the AST (i.e. liver function tests) are often judged on the pathological processes in the liver. Screening of ALT and AST allows to evaluate liver function and detect abnormalities.
