Common cause of pain in the sky is a mechanical damage (scratches, cuts) when chewing. Solid food, bones easily injure the mucous membrane of the sky. The wound can become inflamed and cause discomfort, although severe pain is not called.

Hard palate, attached to the periosteum behind the upper teeth may ache due to caries, pulpitis, osteomyelitis (bone inflammation) of the upper jaw, periodontitis (inflammation of tissues surrounding the tooth). At the same throbbing pain at the site of inflammation extends to the sky. And tissues surrounding the tooth immediately, the sky reacts aching pain to cold, hot, pain when chewing.


Not least among the causes is the inflammation of the tonsils, growths of the soft palate, or angina. The tonsils consist of lymphoid tissue, so named because of its oval shape. They are covered by epithelium (the covering tissue) bumpy irregular shape with many indentations. Some disease-causing microbes, were "stuck" in the grooves (cavities), causing inflammation of the tonsils, redness of the tissues around, fever, pain in the throat and soft palate.

In the palate are ternary, sympathetic, and cranial nerves. Neuralgia (inflammation) of the nerves may be the cause of pain in the sky. Pain occurs from dysfunction of the temporomandibular joint, it can hurt and jaw, and the sky and the temple.

Diseases of the mucous membranes of the oral cavity is also directly reflected in the sky. Stomatitis is a lesion of the mucous membrane of the oral cavity. It is caused by different reasons, one of which is called a viral infection, herpes, weakening of the immune system. The reaction is expressed in mucosal ulcerations, with the characteristic whitish bloom and hyperemia on the edge. Pain in the integuments of the mouth is one of the main symptoms of the disease.

In General we can say that the pain in the sky due to the proximity of the facial nerve, lesions of mucous membrane of oral cavity, diseases of the teeth and tonsils.
