In the simplest case where you just want to measure the area of your apartment, take advantage of the available measuring devices. You will need a tape measure, a calculator and the assistance of another person. Before performing calculations, scribble on a sheet of paper from the hand of the scheme of your apartment, to later put down to her size. Note the utility room, pantry, loggia or balcony.

Consistently measure tape measure length of each wall in every room of the apartment. When you do this, attach the tape measure on the floor at the level of the plinth, making sure it was well stretched. One make it pretty difficult, so it is advisable to take the help of a partner.

Measure the length and width of a separate room, put the result in meters and record on the plan of the apartment. It is also convenient to make a small table, which also will be calculating area. Calculate the area of each room. To do this, multiply the length and width of the room. If the room shape is complex, define it as the sum of the squares of its constituent simple shapes. Calculation results record in their "statement".

Sum the area of all rooms of the apartment. You will get the desired result, which is useful for example, when planning the repair, purchase of building materials and so on.

The living area is define as the sum of the areas of living rooms. Area of the apartment is calculate as the sum of the areas of living rooms and utility rooms excluding loggias, corridors, bathrooms, toilets, built-in cabinets and closets. The latest official statistic total area – determine the folding area any and all areas, using reduction factors (for loggias – 0,5; for balconies and terraces – 0,3).
