Why people change their profession?

Many people go to University or to a degree, not because I feel his passion and vocation, and at the insistence of parents, guided by stereotypes about the prestige of the profession, and even just based on a passing score. If a person is lucky, like the chosen specialty, gives you the opportunity to grow their careers and brings a lot of money. But what about those who are not interested in the work in accordance with the diploma?

In a relatively young age it is quite solvable problem, as finding your place in life – a typical phenomenon for young professionals. But those who are already over 30, the changes can seem a daunting task. It means giving up prospects for current work, the need to re-learn to start a career with a low position, to change the established habits and social circle. Besides, not all people are willing to work with young colleagues, without any complexes about his age. However, there are many examples of how people find "their" profession and at a later age.

How to change the field?

If you are thinking about changing spheres of activity, first decide what you exactly want to do. You have a huge advantage to students and young professionals – experience. You much better know the life and can more clearly to formulate global goals.
Perhaps a good solution would be to work in a different specialty in the same organization where you work, as this will cause less questions from future employers.

Regardless of what you choose as a new profession, you should not rush into the pool with his head. Much more practical would be to try a new business without burning bridges: for example, if you think that could work as a designer, not a sales Manager, try to do it in my spare time, carrying out orders online or to friends. So you will be able to understand more clearly what knowledge and skills you need to successfully operate in a new specialty.
You should not change work just because you are afraid of present or future difficulties. Complexity is everywhere, so running from them will not work forever.

Also, don't try to start a career with training, wasting precious time acquiring new knowledge that may never come in handy. Often career can begin, without having specific skills, as learning in practice or on their own. If you feel a tendency for your chosen profession, you can always get education by correspondence, not interrupting the experience.
