To update the software (firmware) of your high-tech gadget, you will need iTunes. While it does not matter whether you are a user of Apple iOS or Windows – based client software exists for both operating systems. To download the latest version of iTunes on Apple's official website in the Internet at www.apple.com.

If you already use iTunes, you can proceed to the next step.

When you first start you will need to connect your iPod touch to the computer using USB cable and run the configuration synchronization. For this the main window of the program open each of the tabs and specify that multimedia content of your iPod will be synced with the computer.

After connecting the iPod touch to the computer and launch iTunes, the program will automatically check the current firmware version. In case of detection of new versions of the software, a dialog box will appear where you will be prompted to upgrade. Click the "Update" button. It is important that computer was connected to the Internet.

If you wish to upgrade in the manual mode, in iTunes click in the left menu on the iPod icon under "Devices". In the main window, click "Update". Will search the current version of the software, and in case of detection the program will offer to update the firmware.

There is another option for manual updates. If your computer is not connected to the Internet and your hard disk has pre-loaded the firmware file, you can tell the program the path to the file to perform the update. Hold down the Shift key on the keyboard in the main menu of iTunes, click "Update", select the firmware file and click Open. Will software update.
