Summarily you can get Russian citizenship if you were citizens of the Kazakh SSR were born (lived) in the territory of the Russian Federation until December 21, 1991, Or if you have close relatives who reside in Russia and are its citizens.

Determine whether you belong to these categories. If Yes, apply for citizenship at the Consulate of the Russian Federation in Kazakhstan. The period of residence on the territory of the Russian Federation in this case does not matter. Application materials will be considered within 3 months.

You have the right to apply for citizenship in a simplified procedure, if you received education from 1 July 2002 in Russian educational institutions, married to a Russian citizen for 3 years, one of the parents is a citizen of the Russian Federation, or you were born in Russia and had citizenship of the USSR. Veterans of the great Patriotic war and disabled persons with able-bodied adult children or registered in the Russian Federation at the place of residence can also obtain citizenship under a simplified procedure.

Determine whether you belong to the above categories. submit documents for citizenship at the place of registration. Application materials will be reviewed within 6 months.

For all other categories of citizens of Kazakhstan it is possible to obtain citizenship of the Russian Federation in the General order. This requires a continuous period of 5 years residence in the territory of the Russian Federation of receipt of the residence permit. Apply for citizenship at the place of registration. Application materials will be considered for 1 year.
Note
List of documents for obtaining citizenship for children is different from the list of documents submitted by the citizens of Kazakhstan.
