Instruction
1
Regardless of which option you want to calculate, put the original value in the SI system. Then the result will be in units of the same system. If necessary, use a calculator, capable, in addition to the mantissa, display, and order number, as in solving tasks on the topic "Oscillations and waves" have to deal with both very small and very large values.
2
In case you do not know the wavelength and speed of propagation of the oscillations, the frequency, calculate the following:
F=v/λ, where F is the frequency in Hertz (Hz), v is the speed of propagation of the oscillations in the medium (m/s), λ - wavelength (m).
The speed of light in vacuum is usually denoted with another letter c (in Latin). Remember that the speed of light in any other medium, except for vacuum, less than the speed of light in vacuum. If one or the other particle passes through a medium at a speed, albeit a slower speed of light in vacuum, but more of the speed of light in this environment, a so-called glow of Cherenkov radiation.
3
If you know the frequency, the period can be found in the case, if the speed of propagation of the oscillations is unknown. The formula for the calculation period frequency as follows:
T=1/F, where T is the period of oscillation (C), F - frequency (Hz).
4
From the above it follows that to find the frequency, knowing the period, you can also without information about the speed of propagation of the oscillations. The method of finding the same:
F=1/T, where F is the frequency in Hertz (Hz), T is the period of oscillation (s).
5
In order to know the cyclic frequency, first calculate their regular frequency of any of the above methods. Then multiply it to 2π:
ω=2πF, where ω is the circular frequency (radian per second), F is the ordinary frequency (Hz).
6
It follows that to calculate the normal frequencies for the cyclic, you should use the reverse formula:
F=ω/(2π), where F is the ordinary frequency (Hz), ω - circular frequency (radian per second).
7
When solving problems on finding the period and frequency of oscillation and wavelength use the following physical and mathematical constants:
- the speed of light in vacuum: c=299792458 m/s (some researchers, in particular, creationists believe that in the past, this physical constant may have different value);

- the speed of sound in air at atmospheric pressure and zero degrees Celsius: Fзв=331 m/s;

- the number "PI" (up to the fifties of the mark): π=3,14159265358979323846264338327950288419716939937510 (dimensionless value).
8
The speed of light in medium with refractive index equal to n (also dimensionless quantity), calculate by dividing the speed of light by the refractive index.
9
After the end of the calculation if necessary, set the result of SI in a convenient unit of measure.
