To increase the level of calcium used in a variety of preparations, including calcium chloride. Doctors prescribe it to patients not only in hypocalcemia, but also in many other diseases. For example, calcium chloride is used for the treatment of urticaria, hay fever and other allergic manifestations. It is quite effective in such cases, although the mechanism of its anti-allergic action is not yet clear. It is recommended to use calcium chloride in combination with antihistamines.

Calcium chloride is also used in the treatment of various skin diseases such as psoriasis, eczema, in some diseases of the liver and kidneys. It is also used as an antidote for poisoning by certain substances (oxalic acid and its salts, salts of magnesium, salts of fluorine acid).

Apply calcium chloride should be only on prescription. Inside it is taken in the form of a 5-10% solution after meals 2-3 times a day. Adults usually prescribe a single dose in the range of 10-15 ml children of 5-10 ml.

Intravenous use of calcium chloride administered bolus or infusion. In the first case, 5-10 ml of a 10% solution of drug was diluted in 100-200 ml of isotonic solution or 5% glucose solution, administered to 6 drops per minute. In the second – administered 5 ml of 10% calcium chloride solution for an extended time (3-5 minutes).
Note
It is strictly forbidden to enter the calcium chloride solution subcutaneously or intramuscularly, as in this case, it can cause necrosis (necrosis) tissues. Also note that calcium chloride is contraindicated in cases of tendency to thrombosis, and elevated levels of calcium in the body.
