- Ammonia solution - 10%, alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, tooth powder or tooth paste, citric acid, baking soda, soft sponge, soft cloth rags.

Silver jewelry and items with silver coating clean different. Silver-plated items require delicate handling, the friction can scratch or remove a thin layer of silver. For delicate cleaning use citric acid solution (100 g citric acid, 0.5 liters of water). Completely submerge the item into the solution and leave for 20 minutes. Silverware allow cleaning with a sponge. Silverware clean immediately after use with detergent and soft fabric motion forward and back. The remaining spots will remove with a solution of alcohol and hydrogen peroxide.

Jewelry made of silver darken faster because the contact with the human skin and air. The impact of the sweat, cosmetics, water lead to darkening and stains. Remove stains and blackening it with a soft sponge using a solution of citric acid (100 g citric acid, 0.5 liters of water), or soap and water solution of ammonia (2 tablespoons of ammonia to 1 liter of soapy water). If you allow the size of the product (chain, earrings, ring), soak it in the solution for 20 minutes.

With a strong blackening, use a slurry made from equal parts of ammonia and tooth powder or baking soda with a small amount of water. Apply the pulp on the product. Wipe the silverware with a soft cloth as long as the tissue will remain dark marks. Cleaned rinse the silverware under warm running water to remove residual cleaning products. Buff the product using a soft cloth and silver will regain its original luster.
Note
Do not use rubber and latex gloves when cleaning: the rubber contains substances for which silver products are covered by a dull coating. Do not use when cleaning abrasives, do not use sharp objects such as silver – soft metal.
Useful advice
Avoid prolonged contact of silver jewelry with water. Avoid getting makeup on the garment. Keep flatware out of silver in dry conditions in sealed bags, pre-wrapping them with clean paper or a soft cloth. Jewelry store in a box with soft padding.
