Per meter at various times were considered to be: the length of a pendulum with a half period of the swing at latitude 45° is 1 second (this is approximately equal to gravity 0,944 meters in the current year); one sorokametrovoy part of the Paris Meridian. The last value was introduced in the late 18th century. Thanks to the conquests of Napoleon, the metric system was spread to Europe. In the UK, not conquered by Napoleon, preserved traditional measures of length. Today the meter is the value equal to the length of the path traveled by light in vacuum for 1/299792458 seconds. Cubic meter, as mentioned above is a unit of volume. Just put an equal sign between these values, or to Express one through the other is impossible.
2
To understand what is cubic meter, imagine a cube. Each side it will be equal to one meter. Of course, the pieces can be different shapes, with different characteristics of length, width and height.
3
For example, the length of a rectangular parallelepiped is equal to three meters, width one meter and a height of two meters. You need to find the volume. It is equal to the product of length, width and height. Turns out: 3x2x1=6 (m3).
4
Also, you can find the volume of a sphere (V=4/3 πR3, where V is the volume, R is the radius), cylinder (V=πR2H, H – height), a cone (V=1/3 πR2H) and other stereometric figures. The formula for finding the volume you can find in a math book or on specialized sites.
5
Remember that the prefixes "centi", "deci", "Milli" in the metric system other fixed numerical ratio. In a linear system calculations decimeter indicates one-tenth of a meter, centimeter is one hundredth millimeter – one-thousandth. In cubic units "gap" between them increases. In one cubic meter thousand cubic decimeters, cubic centimeters, a million and a billion cubic millimeters.
