The concept of recreational activities
Recreation (recreatio) translated from Latin means "restoration" and includes the types of activity which aimed at the rehabilitation and the maintenance of normal health of a man weary of work or study. It is carried out in free time, and its purpose may not be a material benefit. It is primarily a Spa treatment, travel, sports, entertainment and other activities that take place outside the home.
Recreational activities are focused not only on vacation, but also on personal development, creative potential of the person, the satisfaction of his spiritual and cultural needs, the formation and development of communication skills, perception of nature.
According to the studies examining the relationship between stress level and satisfaction from recreational activities, those who are more satisfied with the quality of free time, the level of mental stress is much lower.
Recreational activities: types of
Today there are several main directions of recreational activities.
1. Therapeutic Spa. Generally based on the use of therapeutic natural resources: climate, sea air and water, therapeutic muds, mineral waters, salt mines, etc.
2. Sports. It's hunting, fishing, mountain-skiing tourism, mountaineering and many other outdoor activities. The most popular sports entertainment on the water and near the water: swimming, ball games, water skiing, diving, rafting, Windsurfing, etc.
3. Entertainment. It is difficult to list everything that relates to this activity: festivities, carnivals, and all kinds of entertainment, bars, casinos, restaurants. In the modern world the entertainment industry has long been a separate sector of the economy.
4. Informative. A variety of excursions, acquaintance with the life of other countries and cities, visits to exhibitions and museums, review of architectural ensembles, historical monuments and other attractions.
To clearly distinguish between different types of recreational activities, perhaps, impossible that they all complement each other and intertwined. After all, focusing on some its main views, vacationers, as a rule, most want to fill their free time and other types, to get as many impressions.
